Dr. Meloche has issued an important letter regarding the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment for Science (NJSLA-S) field test, to be administered to 5th, 8th and 11th grade students in May. This assessment replaces the NJASK Sciene and NJ Biology Competency Test (NJBCT) administered in previous years. This letter details the process required for refusing the test. Refusals must be received by building principals by Friday, May 4, 2018.
Earlier this morning (Friday, December 8, 2017), New Jersey American Water hit a gas line while conducting work in the Woodcrest neighborhood.
I was alerted of the situation. There was no danger to the school, and the line has since been successfully capped. However, all Woodcrest students and staff are being kept inside the school building as a precaution.

The Cherry Hill Fire Department has been a partner with the Cherry Hill School District providing fire safety education for many years. In 2014 we presented a new program entitled "Safety Smart". Safety Smart is a school-based curriculum that links teachers with community safety experts and parents. Safety Smart is being taught in grades 1, 3, 5 and 6 as part of the Physical/Health Education Program.
The goal of the Safety Smart Program is not only to teach students valuable safety skills, but also to have the students put these skills to use outside of the school environment. A valuable tool to help us evaluate the effectiveness of the program is the parent survey. We ask parents/guardians to please take a few minutes to complete an online Parent Survey so we can determine how, if at all, the instruction is being put to use.
